Carel Venter Name Change To Greymont Park – Now Has Officially Been Approved.
After a lengthy process that started in April last year, with a lengthy public participation process (Petition, emails, social media, local media, local Councillor) and submitting all relevant documents and motivations, we have finally received confirmation yesterday that The City of Johannesburg has approved the name change which we requested. Namely; The Carel Venter Park to be re-named the “Greymont Park.”
Here is the motivation sent from our awesome Clive to the of the Department of Community Development in support of our own application and motivation. We will have to wait however for the new signage to be made and to be erected and the South African Geographical Council confirmation. These steps are however just procedural.
We on the Greymont Forum want to thank all the residents of Greymont who gave input in either support of or opposing our application, not mentioning all who helped in getting the signatures collected for our petition for this name change.
All residents can indeed feel proud of their contribution to make our Park reflect the wonderful suburb that Greymont has become over the last few years. Hence the name of our Park now called “The Greymont Park”.
