2015 Christmas Newsletter from SUBURBAN CRIME PREVENTION
It’s been a long time since our very last newsletter and people have been asking for one.
Well, here she is!
Catching up would take a long time and many pages so we’ll keep it short. You must have noticed that Roland has been keeping a low profile. Age was slowly creeping in and most of the tasks have been delegated to others. He’s still keeping a close look at how things are going though. Early this year Piet took over as the Ops Manager and since the beginning of November, Valarie is the new Managing Director running the whole admin site and control room. Odd incidents are reported on the SCP Facebook as they happen. All major crime incidents in the area are reported there for everyone to see. On Facebook, request access at SCP CRIME REPORTS.
Roosevelt Park has been added to our area of control. A very positive development as we have one more dedicated car which overlaps Eastown and Waterval Estate. That means more eyes on the road over a relatively small increased area. The results have been noted. Roosevelt Park’s crime rate (with its spill-over into neighbouring areas), with the assistance of its fantastic community, is right down!!
The other interesting thing is that our annual increases earlier this year were minimal. That is because of you. Thanks for your continuous support and trust that we can all make this a better, safer place.
However, due to our continuous growth, next year sometime, we will also be forced to charge VAT. This is not uncommon as most security companies have to charge VAT. But another positive “however” is that we will NOT increase our fees for 2016.
For the coming months of December and January we ask that you do the necessary to inform us about the dates when you are away. Sometimes we get incidents where we were not informed. Be aware of Eskom outages! These may, or will affect your alarm system. The computer automatically processes these signals BUT, if you have complied with our rules by filling in a “going away form”, (which is loaded on the computer), it immediately flashes on the screen, ‘CLIENT AWAY’, and the supplied instructions from you.
If your power goes off, check if your neighbour’s power has gone off as well, or check with us if there is a general power outage. Criminals switch off your power and wait for the opportune moment to strike.
Please phone the control room when you know there is a false alarm generated? All stops are removed to get to you as quick as possible and it is annoying when we have to hear: “Sorry, made a mistake.” Serious incidents could have happened elsewhere but we were on our way to a ‘false alarm’.
Also, when you know that your alarm goes off many times a day, please do something about it? Other security companies charge or cancel clients for these unnecessary call-outs. SCP does not…yet. Contact you may want to use to have your system fixed, is Jaco at 083-3705472.
